Accurate Grammar Check
Dear User,
Grammar checking by computer is not perfect. But it does a good enough job to remove several errors in each document. This means projecting a better image, closing a sale, or getting a higher grade.
The way grammar checker works by computer is by examining word patterns. We have collected common grammar errors that are made by English writers. We encoded this into a dictionary of general sentence structure, and that is what we search for when looking for grammar errors.
Therefore, our grammar checker will make a good case finding real grammar errors that people really make, as opposed to made up errors. So when you test our software, test it on a real document, or email your wrote. Don't try to conjure up grammar mistakes, that will not work.
The accuracy of our grammar check is the best that it can be for a computer. Which means that you have to use common sense when you see correct suggestions for grammar mistakes our grammar check suggests.
We break up the sentence into a a regular sentence structure such as verbs, nouns and etc. when doing grammar checking. So once we have identified a possible grammar error, it translates to other generic forms of writing:
For instance, we do know that after the word "to" we need to look for a verb in the present simple form. So when we do grammar check, we check to see that the user has typed a present simple form verb after the "to". If not, we flag it to be considered as an error.
Therefore, by making up a rules to grammar check one form, we can track several thousands of actual mistakes in grammar.
The upside is that we catch more errors during grammar checking, the downside is that our grammar checker sometimes picks a sentence that is not a grammar mistake and flags it as one that does have a grammar mistake.
Therefore, common sense needs to be used. Generally speaking this is not a problem because once a grammar mistake is highlighted. The user usually can see if it is an error or not.
During our grammar check results we also provide the explanation of the possible error and the explanation on how to correct this grammar error, and often, actual grammar corrections you can make to the document.
Grammar checking is not a trivial computing task, but not impossible either.
