Spell Checking By Computer

Spell check by computer is pretty successful.  Basically, the computer scans your text for exact matches against it's database of words.

If it finds the word in the database, then spell checking is correct for that word.  If a word is missing from the database, then this word is assumed to be misspelled.

Of course, this assumes that the spell checking is against a comprehensive database of all words in the language. Therefore, usually an add word feature is implemented to help the user tell the computer to learn a new word as correctly spelled that is not in the database.

Spell checking by computer is quite successful these days.  It doesn't catch grammar mistakes.  But it does catch spelling mistakes.

The downside of this approach is that you misspelled a word as another word that is in the database.  The spell check program will not be able to recognize the word as misspelled, instead it will think the word is spelled correctly.

Against, this type of an error sometimes even a grammar check won't catch.  However, our grammar check has the ability to ask you regarding words that are commonly switched such as "weather" and "whether".  Our grammar check explains to you the meaning of both words and then you can make a choice if you selected the right spelling.

Of course, a good spell check will also provide you with common suggestions for your misspelled words.  With a little common sense, and knowledge of the language you are writing in, you will be able to pick out the right word.

Our spell check & grammar checking also comes with thesaurus.  So if you can't tell which word you are meaning to refer to, just click on the thesaurus button and it will show you a full list of synonymous (words with similar meanings) and antonyms (words with opposite meaning).  As a result, you will be able to pick the correct word from the word suggestion list.
