In computers, data is stored in what are called data structures. These data structures represent information in computer memory. The information in the data structures can be represented in compressed form.

This compressed form is what allows to store a file that should be about 1,000,000kb into a file that is only 350kb in size.

The beauty of American English language list of words which allows for compression is that there are many common letter combinations between words that allow for compression. For instance the all the words that end in the letters "ing" or "tion". We do not store with each word the combination of "ing" and "tion".
