Interesting Facts About Quicken

Quicken is a successful program both to the user and to its maker.  Quicken is a classical example of a program that is inheritably easy to write, and that has value to its users.  There are no programming challenges in writing a program like Quicken.   While Quicken is easy to program, it is a massive amount of work.  Especially in screen designs. 

Any computer science graduate can write Quicken, and could also have become wealthy doing so.  On the other hand to write a program like Word, or MS-SQL, or Oracle, or MS-Access you have to be a top programmer with serious computer programming skills as well as serious knowledge of computer science theory.

I am sorry to say, but while Quicken made its makers wealthy, it is a boring software to program because it is simple and dry business application.  But then again, I find accounting boring.  May be if you like accounting, Quicken would have been exciting for you to program.  But by no means, there are no interesting programming challenges in Quicken.

Most programs that make money for their makers are also simple programs.  Usually the most exciting and complex the program is the less income it makes for the maker. 

This is true because easier the program is, the easier it is to explain to a customer what the program does, and the easier it is for a customer to understand why they need the program.  Therefore, customers buy it.

But the more complex a program is, the more difficult it is to explain to the customer what the program does.  Therefore the more difficult to sell.
